“This was a trial run in a rented VW camper van. The site is extremely well run and scrupulously clean. The river that runs alongside the country park is wonderful. There is a bench where you can sit peacefully. I saw a heron come swooping down onto the water. There is a lovely riverside walk that takes you to the canal. We would certainly stay again.”

Usually we book through Camping and Caravan Club but went ‘off piste’ through Pitch Up.
Not a bad word to say about the place – staff friendly, immaculately kept and a pleasure to stay here (I still am). River is great for keeping the kids entertained, I mean who doesn’t love throwing stones? Also a lovely walk along the disused canal into either Newtown or Welshpool.
Note – yes there is some traffic noise but the road is actually the other side of the river, so it’s not that bad.
We didn’t venture far but it’s within 1.15 of the Welsh coast and half hour (ish) Shrewsbury, which is a lovely town.
